DO YOU PLAY PICKLEBALL??  Please join the Bow Parks & Recreation Pickleball Club. Players must have taken an introduction class prior to playing with the club.  Participants will need to have a Bow Recreation Online Account.  Which can be created here. If you have registered for programs with us in the past, you may already have an account.  Try logging in with the email address that we might have on file. Also, try resetting your password. Membership dues for all players consist of a yearly fee of $5.00.  In addition to the membership dues, Non-Bow residents will be asked to pay $10 per month for unlimited play.  New players, after creating a MyRec household account, and having paid the required fees, you will be invited to join our Team Reach.  This phone app is how the club communicates. It is how you reserve a spot and see/make any changes for a session.  Each session has a maximum number of spots available. Team Reach is vital to the smooth running of the club program.

INTRO TO PICKLEBALL
Looking to start a new sport? Why not learn to play Pickleball.  This 2 day class introduces students to the sport of Pickleball. Using game-based learning, students learn how to play, score, and work on the strokes of dinking, serve/return or serve, volley, and 3rd shot drop (offering an introduction to this shot). The second class will focus on practicing the common strokes of dinking, serve/return of serve, and volley.  This allows the player to gain experience with actual play time and "coaching" during play allowing students to gain confidence in playing the game

SERVE/RETURN OF SERVE CLASS
The serve is the pickleball stroke used to begin the game. This class offers a discussion of proper serving techniques and rules related to serving.
Each student will have an opportunity to:
-practice serve and return of serve
-discuss their serve and receive suggestions to improve their individual serve and return of serve
-practice serving/return of serve through drills
Class will conclude with coached doubles play.

COACH DOUBLE CLASS
Looking to improve your Pickleball game? Looking for some help on your serve or shots? Our Pickleball coach Joan Major is
offering Coached Doubles.
She will offer:
Discussion during live play offers an opportunity to:
-Gain new perspectives about player court positioning, shot selection, net play, body mechanics, strategy topics.
-Learn about your individual personal play style, with the goal of improving and being more effective/efficient on court.
-Take away personalized feedback as we all continue to improve our play.
Live play and point analysis makes learning fun!

BACKHAND SHOT CLASS
Hitting to your opponent’s backhand is a great strategy because it can make them hit a more difficult shot. Typically, an opponent’s backhand can be a weaker shot for them to hit the ball back to you.
This class offers:
-a review of proper backhand stroke mechanics
-many different practice drills offering the opportunity to concentrate on hitting to your opponent’s backhand..
-time to concentrate and focus on the backhand stroke
Class includes play and “coached” doubles play advice.

3RD SHOT DROP CLASS
The 3rd shot drop is one of the more difficult shots in pickleball. It is an essential shot to bring your game to the next level.
This class offers a discussion on how to:
-learn the proper technique to hit a 3rd shot drop
-hit effective 3rd shot drops, incorporating strategy with the 3rd shot drop
Drills offer the opportunity to practice these concepts.
Class will conclude with coached doubles play.

PICKLEBALL FOUNDATIONAL FITNESS
This program will help you learn how to create a foundation of fitness specific to pickleball to help prevent injuries and keep our play strong and safe.  We will include some cardio, strength training, stretching, agility, and more.  By the end of this program, you will have a good knowledge base to continue your fitness for pickleball.  This program will not include learning the rules.  We will, however, use a pickleball paddle for some movements; so please bring your paddle to class along with clean, dry shoes to change into before class. Also, bring a notebook and pen, a mat, water bottle, and small hand or kitchen towel, and your questions.  Participants age 75 or older or those who have a serious health issue will need a Doctor's note in order to participate.

MIDDLE SCHOOL INTRO TO
PICKLEBALL
The Beginners Intro Class will cover the basics of the game, including court layout, rules, techniques, and strategy.  Each week will focus on a different part of the game such as, dinking, serving, returning, drop shots, positioning, etc., all through fun drills and games.  Eventually we will reach the point of full game play with sideline coaching.  The running around will not only help improve their cardiovascular fitness, ,bit it will also help themm improve their hand-eye coordination, and build strength and agility.  Our hope is to give each child and overall introduction of the sport so they can then find and connect with fellow players in the community.
